In 1945, the Chicago-based industrialist had a vision of Aspen becoming a future bastion of arts and culture in North America. He would be instrumental in realizing this vision by not only creating the Aspen Skiing Company, but also the Aspen Institute.


Today, arts and culture are a fundamental part of our community. Whether its hosting young maestros at the Aspen Music School, attracting some of the world's best dancers with the Aspen-Santa Fe Ballet, or placing specially commissioned art on our lift tickets, you will find that a depth of expression not found in other ski towns.
