COVID-19 Response
The COVID-19 pandemic presented our community with an unprecedented challenge. Through it all, we have helped facilitate charitable giving and volunteering through the Roaring Fork Valley.The Caring for Community fund is giving grants to nonprofits providing access to food, internet, safe housing, rent, and financial assistance. All donations made through September 18, 2020 will be matched by the Aspen Skiing Company Family Fund at Aspen Community Foundation, up to $250,000. 100% of those funds will be distributed.
Challenge Aspen and Ascendigo
Skiing can change lives. We are proud to support two organizations that make skiing more accessible to those with disabilities: Challenge Aspen and their military outreach division, as well as Ascendigo.Challenge Aspen provides year-round adaptive experiences for people faced with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Challenge Aspen Military Opportunities (CAMO) introduces veterans and active military members to the therapeutic value of skiing and outdoor activity.
Ascendigo Autism Services offers half day, full day, and week-long ski and snowboarding lessons for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Aspen Skiing Company professionals
are extensively trained to work with autism.
Coming Together for the Lake Christine Fire
When the Lake Christine Fire erupted above the Town of Basalt in July of 2018, our community faced a frightening but increasingly familiar challenge. While the bravery of firefighters and numerous DC-10 slurry drops helped limit the damage, our community lost three homes and more than 500 families evacuated. The City of Aspen, including its hospital, was one charred telephone-pole away from losing all power.Aspen Skiing Company employees donated $13,492 to relief; the Aspen Skiing Company Family Fund and the Crown Family both matched those contributions for a total of $40,476.
