Getting to Yes on Climate Policy: Republicans, the Media, and a New Path Forward
In Partnership with Aspen Center for Environmental Studies
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Aspen U Speaker Series on March 13 has been canceled. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
This bi-partisan event around a global issue will present critical information in an interactive, educational way and is free and open to the public.
“Everyone, regardless of political party affiliation, wants clean air, clean water, clean food and a stable climate. Through this discussion, we will hear a conservative environmental leader’s economic solutions driving innovation for climate protection. We’ll also discuss an economics guru’s lessons on how the media, as well as democracy, can help solve our environmental crises,” said Chris Lane, CEO of Aspen Center for Environmental Studies.
The evening will feature a discussion between former U.S. Representative Bob Inglis and journalist Adam Davidson and will take place at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen. The event is free, with an RSVP required. It will address key concepts such as why everyone, on both sides of the political aisle, must concern themselves with the issues of climate change.
“Pricing the negative effects of burning fossil fuels is one key solution that both Republicans and Democrats can support,” continued Lane. “ACES is pleased to partner with Aspen One to bring innovative thinkers on climate solutions to our Valley. This issue is critical both to our work as educators on environmental responsibility, and to Aspen One’s work as climate advocacy leaders.”
Dave Tanner, CEO of Aspen One, said, “One of the pillars of our new sustainability strategy is to convene thought leaders to try to change the national conversation around climate. Aspen has a long legacy of playing a role in such convening, and this event brings together leaders on two crucial issues: climate tax policy and the media.”
