Snowmass Festivities

December 13-15, 2019

Art, culture and snow sports collide to kickoff winter at Aspen Snowmass during Passapalooza, December 13-15, 2019. When the sun sets in Snowmass, the town will come to life (and light) for a unique and festive evening of immersive art and food and drink specials around Snowmass Base Village and Snowmass Mall in partnership with Snowmass Tourism. After your day on the slopes, experience interactive art, light-based installations and more around the Snowmass Mall and Base Village throughout the weekend.

Snowmass Light Festival

Stick around after sunset on December 13th and 14th as Snowmass Village transforms into a glowing winter wonderland as part of the Passapalooza festivities. Base Village, Fanny Hill, and the Snowmass Village Mall will come to life with interactive art and games and immersive light-art sculptures, including projection mapping displays, ice sculptures, large scale illuminations and a forest of multi-colored trees.

With over 20 light installations in Snowmass, ranging from a 16 foot LED Geosphere by Artist John Schroeder of SynerGeo to a 100 foot LED light tunnel on Fanny Hill, the Snowmass Light Festival is sure to illuminate the Passapalooza weekend! Then watch the snow transform into a 3D canvas as artist George Berlin uses 20K Ultra HD projectors to paint the snow with animated light. View some of George Berlin's other work below.

Base Village Happenings

Saturday, Dec. 14, an ice-skating show, featuring kids from the Aspen Skating Club (plus a featured fire skater), will take place on the Snowmass Base Village rink and DJ Naka G will be spinning tunes. Once again, the Base Village skate rink will offer free ice-skating and skate rentals, not only throughout the weekend, but all season long.

The Collective, a new community center and the heart and soul of Snowmass Base Village, will debut with its grand opening that weekend. The space includes a new restaurant concept, called mix6, by award-winning Aspen chef Martin Oswald. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner. Right next to mix6, MoxiBar will offer inventive cocktails, craft beers and renowned wines. The building also includes a new Game Lounge with an interactive music wall, neon foosball, table tennis, retro-inspired arcade games, Zeigler Reservoir ball pit, large scale coloring wall, video games and more
