The Environment Foundation Featured On Nbc's Give
The work of two excellent non-profits in the Roaring Fork Valley — the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) and Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers — was recently featured on NBC's new TV show, Give. We were thrilled to be a part of the program, and to utilize the grant-giving of the Environment Foundation to award a combined $20,000 in grants to each group so they can keep up the good work.

In the show, which was filmed last fall, host Jenna Bush Hagar met up with a group of local fifth graders at Maroon Lake, who were part of an ACES education program to learn more about the area's unique geology. Through their unique programs, ACES helps to extend science education to kids to make up for reduced funding in public schools.
Jenna also met with a group of young stewards doing trail work with the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers. This program not only exposes children to the great outdoors and teaches them valuable teamwork skills, but it also helps to maintain the valley's trail system — something that is increasingly dependent on volunteer efforts due to lack of funding in the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.

The Environment Foundation is an employee-funded collaboration between the Aspen Community Fund and Aspen Skiing Company.
Established in 1997, the foundation has raised more than $3 million dollars for organizations that protect and preserve the regional environment. During that time, those funds have been applied to 500 projects throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, ranging from trail work and environmental education, to clear-energy installation and environmental advocacy.
