100 Days Club At Aspen Snowmass

100 Days of Skiing Club at Aspen Snowmass

There are a few badges of honor that skiers in the Roaring Fork Valley can achieve in the course of their skiing career. Logging laps at all four mountains in one day. Hitting Boyd’s Bump on Aspen Mountain. Hiking Highlands Bowl. But few come close to the prestige of hitting 100 days on the mountain in a single season.

Only .03% of Aspen Snowmass pass holders reach 100 days on any given year. Clearly, it’s a feat not for the faint of heart. During the season, there are around 160 days of the lifts spinning. This means that rain, snow, sleet, or shine, those who hit 100 days have to put on boots and skis or board nearly two out of every three days. We caught up with a few of these dedicated souls to ask what brings out the commitment in them over the seasons.

If you are one of the few skiers or riders who hit the 100 days mark for the 2019-2020 season, don't forget to grab your pin from an Aspen Snowmass ticket office... you've earned it!

Mikey Wechsler

Mikey Wechsler
Mikey Wechsler is a fixture on Aspen Mountain. Whether he’s grabbing his daily breakfast at Bonnie’s or making new friends in the Silver Queen gondola, he is always skiing. He lives to ski. He put 100 days in the rearview in February and kept on skiing!

How many years have you been a member of the 100 days club?
More years than they’ve given out pins. Nine seasons every day!
What brings you to the mountain on a near daily basis?
Skiing is like metal floss, it puts you in a great frame of mind to do whatever else you got to do that day.

What is your favorite mountain?
Aspen Mountain.

Favorite runs?
All of them, I love that every day is different.

What makes the Aspen Snowmass community special?
One of the amazing things about Aspen is people always have your back. That’s what makes this place so special. That’s why I’m still here.

Who are your favorite ski partners? Or are you a solo soul shredder?
Dogs of Bell, one of Aspen’s oldest ski gangs.

Will you be hitting 100 days next year?
Of course! Every year!

Jordan Curet

Jordan Curet
If Jordan Curet’s name sounds familiar it’s likely because you’ve seen her photographs either on her popular social media channels or published in one of the many publications around Aspen Snowmass. But when she’s not snapping photos of her beautiful surroundings, you can find her on the mountain! Jordan and her boyfriend, Bryce Gordon, both got their 100 day pins this year between their many other hobbies and activities.
How many years have you been a member of the 100 days club?
I have a handful of 100 day pins from Aspen Snowmass, but I have had at least 10 years of 100 days, they just aren't always all at Aspen Snowmass.

What brings you to the mountain on a near daily basis?
It has become a challenge I make for myself every year. And to mix it up sometimes I snowboard, sometimes I ski and sometimes I uphill to keep it interesting.

What is your favorite mountain?
Aspen Mountain, I love the quick laps and variety of terrain, especially the Dumps. This year you could ski rope to rope from Walsh's to Traynors and everything in between.

Favorite runs?
Highland Bowl

What makes the Aspen Snowmass community special?
I have so many friends interested in different types of skiing, it helps me motivate to get out there every day and experience the mountain in different ways. Also, I see a lot of the same crew day in and day out, even if we don't know each other by name we always say hello.

Who are your favorite ski partners? Or are you a solo soul shredder?
All are welcome, I love having friends on a powder day, especially if I am shooting photos. Bryce and I got a lot of days in together this year. But, there are plenty of days I just put my headphones in and head uphill.

Will you be hitting 100 days next year?
Heck ya!

Ben Kohtz

Ben Kohtz
Like many current residents of Aspen Snowmass, Ben Kohtz didn’t grow up here, but he is growing here. Originally from Michigan, Ben moved to the Roaring Fork Valley a couple years ago as a twenty-year-old and left the small hills of the Midwest for the mountains of the Rockies.

How many years have you been a member of the 100 days club?
This year is my 3rd year getting it now.
What brings you to the mountain on a near daily basis?
I work/live on Snowmass, so I’m already here!

What is your favorite mountain?
I would have to say Snowmass on a regular day, and Highlands on a powder day.

Favorite runs?
Hanging Valley Wall, Burnt Mountain Glades, Gunners, Sneakys, Highlands Bowl.

What makes the Aspen Snowmass community special?
It’s the vibe that it brings. A younger generation-filled town. Everyone is here for the same reason. We are all just trying to find our happy place. I think we all have done a pretty good job with it, too.

This place is a one of a kind place. Being on the mountains every day brings total happiness, and joy for people. It’s truly a hard place not to fall in love with.

Who are your favorite ski partners? Or are you a solo soul shredder?
I would prefer to ride alone most of the time, but Vicecity Squad rips every now and then.

Will you be hitting 100 days next year?!
I will be hitting the 100 day mark next year for sure. I will be well past 100 days as well.
