Book Launch Party for Ski Town, Race Town: A Celebration of Ski Racing in Aspen – Roch Cup to World Cup Finals
Limelight Aspen – Living Room
Thursday April 5, 2018
Join Aspen Skiing Company at Limelight Hotel for a moderated discussion with the team behind the book and to celebrate the launch of the limited edition 240-page coffee-table book that was edited by Michael Miracle (formerly of Skiing magazine and Aspen Sojourner) and Christin Cooper-Taché (Olympic silver medalist, five-time World Cup winner, and thirty-year ski-racing broadcaster).
Content highlights include the story of the Roch Cup, which in many ways is Aspen’s origin story as a ski town; a series of conversations with local ski-racing luminaries including Bill Marolt, Dave Durrance, Bob Beattie, and Mark Taché; twenty pages of reporting and photography from the 2017 World Cup Finals ski races; a feature story about Mikaela Shiffrin’s 2016-17 season, which culminated with her being the first American ever to collect the overall World Cup Crystal Globe on home soil; and forty-eight pages of photo essays by Dan Bayer that capture the magic of the 2017 World Cup Finals.
