Colorado Junior Freeride

The Colorado Junior Freeride returns to Aspen Snowmass on Sunday, March 3rd. Come catch the excitement as big mountain skiers ages 12 to 18 tackle a challenging course in the Highland Bowl at Aspen Highlands. The competition is an IFSA-sanctioned junior regional and part of the Rocky Mountain Freeride Series. Winners will feed into national competitions. Skiers are judged on line choice, fluidity, control, technique, style and energy. Spectators are welcome to check out the action from the perimeter of the designated venue.

Essential Information


Aspen Highlands - Highland Bowl Y1 (Filip's Leap) & Y2 (Whip's Veneration)

Divisions (Ski)

  • 12-14 Division - Athletes are 12 to 14 years old.
  • 15-18 Division - Athletes are 15 to 18 years old.


All competitors must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian at the event. Download the waiver here.


Registration for the 2019 event is sold out

Registration opens on January 17th, 2019 at 7pm online Registration will not include lift tickets. Discounted lift tickets are available to competitors ($52) and family ($65) on the inspection and competition days. On the March 2nd athlete check-in/registration will be in the conference room which is just up the stairs from the main ticket office at Highlands. This is where we will issue the coaches passes from 9am to noon. On the 3rd we will have a table in the main ticket office from 7:30am to 8:15am for any last minute check in's.

Transportation & Parking

Parking is free for vehicles with 4 or more passengers in the main parking structure at the base of Aspen Highlands. Paid parking is enforced 7:30am to noon daily. No charge for vehicles arriving after noon, if spaces are available. The daily parking fee is $25 on weekends,

Refund Policy

Entry fees will be refunded only to athletes with a valid medical reason under the following provisions: Entry fees will be refunded if requested 1 week prior to first day of event onsite registration. Participants must have a valid medical reason and documentation, each case will be reviewed. A 25% service charge will be deducted from all refunds. All refunds are at the sole discretion of Aspen Snowmass. Absolutely no refunds will be given after the above date regardless of reason and no refunds will be given due to event cancellation. Registrations are non-transferable.

9am to 12pm - Registration & Check-In (Highlands Ticket Office - Upstairs Conference Room)
12pm to 2:30pm - Venue Inspection

Sunday, March 3rd
7:30am to 8:15am - Competitor registration & check-in (Highlands Ticket Office - Upstairs Conference Room)
8:15am - Lift Load (Exhibition Lift)
8:30am - Athlete Meeting (Merry Go Round Restaurant aka MGR)
9am - Final Venue Inspection (timing dependent on opening of the bowl by patrol)
10am - Competition (timing dependent on opening of the bowl by patrol)
TBD - Awards will be held at the base following the end of competition.
