What to Expect

Sign your toddler up for a mixture of early childhood education and their first taste of skiing with our Cubs on Skis program. The perfect blend of indoor and outdoor activities for the day.
  • Mixes indoor play with a gentle introduction to skiing outdoors.
  • Our staff is specially trained in early childhood education as well as ski instruction. Their compassionate approach helps foster a nurturing environment while at the same time giving your child the space and time (and snacks!) they need to be happy all day.
  • The Cubs on Skis private learning area keeps your child safe and gives them the confidence to learn without the distractions and overwhelming stimulation of the main mountain.
  • Inside, children play in the Treehouse Adventure Center (Snowmass), an award-winning, Colorado nature-themed childcare facility with a low child-to-Pro ratio. At Buttermilk, kids play indoors at The Hideout.
  • Children who are potty-trained, ages 3 to 4, and who are ready to spend most of the day outside should enroll in our Snowmass Bears or Buttermilk Pandas programs

Tips for Parents

If possible, get your lift tickets and rentals the day before. It is recommended to allow for one hour to properly fit your child with rental equipment.

Please note that young children occasionally experience separation problems. Here are some suggestions to help your child adjust to the experience.
  • Avoid letting this be your child’s first experience away from you. It is helpful if the child has learned to trust other adults (babysitters or caregivers).
  • Talk to your child about how much fun he or she will have in the program before your arrival. Tell the child where you will be and when you will return.
  • If possible, come for a short visit the day before your reservation.
  • Our goal is for your child to have a wonderful experience. If your child has a difficult time adjusting, we will contact you so that together we can decide what is best for your child.

Special Considerations

  • Helmets: Helmets are required for children ages 17 and under participating in Ski & Snowboard Schools programs.
  • Our Guarantee:When you consider that every lesson is backed by Our Guarantee, it becomes a risk-free investment – if you are unsatisfied with your lesson, we’ll enroll you in another lesson at no extra cost to you. Put simply, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
  • Group lessons are fully refundable if not used.
  • Health: Your child’s health is important to us. Please notify us of any health problems or medication requirements. We reserve the right to refuse any child due to illness to ensure the health of the other children in our program.
  • Medication: If medication is to be administered, parents must sign a medical release instructing us how and when the medication is to be given to the child. All medication must be in the original container with the written instructions from the physician clearly marked. We are not allowed to dispense over the counter medicine without a written physician order.
