What to Expect

Watch your child’s confidence grow as they join our Grizzlies Program for young skiers and snowboarders ages 5 and 6. We have a class for all ability levels.

Focused on the fundamentals of on-mountain safety and designed for first-timers — as well as kids who have been shredding it up their entire short lives — Aspen Snowmass’ Grizzlies Program allows children ages 5 and 6 to thrive.

We’ll place them in a class with peers of the same ability. It’s a great environment to meet new friends, and enjoy skiing and riding more. Our Pros are both young-at-heart and specially trained for teaching young children. They love working with kids!

These lessons place a special emphasis on knowing the Skier Responsibility Code. Special events include the Winter Wild Things Native Animal Exploration and race days.

Special Considerations

  • Helmets: Helmets are required for children ages 17 and under participating in Ski & Snowboard Schools programs.
  • Our Guarantee: When you consider that every lesson is backed by Our Guarantee, it becomes a risk-free investment – if you are unsatisfied with your lesson, we’ll enroll you in another lesson at no extra cost to you. Put simply, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.
  • Group Lessons are fully refundable if not used.
  • If possible, get your lift tickets and rentals the day before. It is recommended to allow for 1 hour to properly fit your child with rental equipment.
  • Our goal is for your child to have a wonderful experience. If your child has a difficult time adjusting, we will contact you so that together we can decide what is best for your child.
  • Transportation: Free transportation is available on Max the Moose Express, a shuttle from Aspen to Buttermilk reserved for kids! Max the Moose leaves from the gondola building in Aspen at 8:45am and returns before 4pm. Children riding Max the Moose Express must be at least 5 years old.
  • Health: Your child’s health is important to us. Please notify us of any health problems or medication requirements. We reserve the right to refuse any child due to illness to ensure the health of the other children in our program.
  • Medication: If medication is to be administered, parents must sign a medical release instructing us how and when the medication is to be given to the child. All medication must be in the original container with the written instructions from the physician clearly marked. We are not allowed to dispense over the counter medicine without a written physician order.
