First Tracks

Join our staff for an early-morning, first run of the day on freshly groomed snow or powder. Offered at Snowmass on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning December 15th, 2017. Space is limited. Available to upper-level intermediate skiers and snowboarders, ages 11 and older. Call or stop by the information desk in the Snowmass Ticket Pavilion.

Learn the history of Snowmass and the Brush Creek Valley while skiing around the mountain with an Ambassador. All tours this season will focus on the history of Snowmass while showcasing the different areas of the mountain. Join a tour every day at 10:30am at the top of Sam's Knob and 1:30pm at the trail mapoutside the Elk Camp Restaurant. The tour is FREE and skiers and riders need to have an ability level of 6 or greater to join.

ACES Tours

ACES Ski Tour

Drop in at the Wapiti Wildlife Center at the top of Elk Camp lift and ski a run with a knowledgeable Naturalist from the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. Take a free tour and learn about our high-alpine environment — wildlife in winter, tracking, avalanches, winter habitats and other interesting signs of life that go unseen during your skiing experience!

  • Beginning December 18, tours depart from the Wapiti Wildlife Center every day at 11am and 1pm
  • Lift ticket and ski/snowboard gear required
  • Tours are free and take 45 minutes
  • Minimum age: 7 years old
  • Intermediate skiing ability is required

Wapiti Wildlife Center is open to the public every day as well. Come warm up, explore the center and learn about the different animals living in the mountains around us.

ACES Snowshoe Tour

Explore spruce and fir forests along a babbling creek in the Snowmass Ski Area on this two-hour guided snowshoe tour with a Naturalist from Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Learn about Rocky Mountain winter ecology, animals, and more as you discover the area and enjoy the silence of a snow-covered forest.

  • Beginning December 14, tours are offered every day at 10 am and 1 pm. Meet guide at the top of the Elk Camp Gondola.
  • Purchase tickets at any lift ticket office. Please allow 30 minutes before the tour for ticket purchase and gondola ride.
  • Prices: $61 Adults, $41 Youth (7-17 years) and Seniors (over 65 years).
  • If you have your own lift ticket tour prices are: $39 Adults, $30 Youth & Senior
  • Tour price includes snack and warm drink, gondola ride, snowshoes, knowledgeable guide, and basic snowshoeing instruction.
  • Approximately 2.5 miles round trip. Tours take place on gentle terrain and are held at a leisurely pace.
  • Warm boots, winter clothing, sunscreen, and water are strongly recommended.
  • Ages 7 and up.

Ambassador Tours

Get to know Snowmass inside and out with our ambassadors. Ambassadors lead tours every day on Snowmass. Ambassadors are at your service. In addition to free orientation tours, they offer information on terrain and facilities, and goodies like apple cider and Clif Bars.

  • 10:30am (from the top of the Village Express Lift)
  • 1:30pm (from the top of the Elk Camp Gondola)
  • Special Program – Snowmass 50 Anniversary Tours: 10:30am (Meets at the top of Sam’s Knob) / 1:30pm (Meets at the trail map outside the Elk Camp Restaurant).   • Special Program – Over the Hillers – (Tuesdays beginning early January through the end of March): (Meets upstairs at the Ullrhof at 10:00am to leave by 10:15am). An open group invitation geared towards skiers and snowboarders over 50 so who want to ski together for most of the day, led by a dedicated ambassador.
Tours serve as an orientation to the mountain on intermediate runs and take one to two hours. They are ideal for those who have never been to Snowmass Mountain or returning visitors who need a refresher. All skiers must be an intermediate level or better to join.
