Aspen Mountain’s base area is located right in the heart of downtown Aspen. The plaza is accessed from the intersection of Durant Ave. and Hunter St. See details below for parking.

From Snowmass Village (15 minutes): Take Owl Creek Road to Colorado Highway 82 and head east into Aspen. Colorado Highway 82 becomes Main St. in town. Turn on Hunter St. to reach the base area. See details below for parking.

By Bus

The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) provides transportation on a year-round basis including free buses operating between the city of Aspen and the town of Snowmass Village. The main transit hub in Aspen is at Rubey Park, a mere 1 ½ blocks from the base area on Durant Ave.

Additionally RFTA buses connect all four Aspen/Snowmass mountains during the winter season with higher frequency during peak times. Each bus is equipped with external racks for skis and snowboards.

From Snowmass Village Mall to Aspen (Rubey Park): every 15 minutes, 6:15am–7:30pm
From Aspen Highlands to Aspen (Rubey Park): Castle Maroon Bus departs to Highlands every 20 minutes from 6:20am–2am (:00, :20 and :40); continuous departures from 8am–10:55am and 2:30pm–4:30pm
From Buttermilk to Aspen (Rubey Park): Board any Aspen-bound bus from Highway 82; Aspen-Buttermilk direct has continuous departures from 8 am to 4:30 pm

By Shuttle

The free Galena Street Shuttle travels continuously from the Rio Grande Parking Plaza to the Silver Queen Gondola from 8:15 am to 5 pm, during summer and winter seasons.

Paid Parking

Allows all-day parking in residential areas for $8 – available at the airport parking kiosk, City Hall, Wheeler Opera House and City Markets. Most hotels in town also offer their guests a $5 street-parking pass to park in designated zones for an entire week. For short-term parking:
The pay-and -display metered spaces are enforced Monday-Saturday from 10am to 6pm
Illegal parking, such a parking in restricted spaces or during restricted hours, is enforced seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Downtown parking meters: Maximum of four hours. Paid parking is in effect from 10am–6pm.

Free parking

Free parking is limited in Aspen.
Carpools of two or more adults of driving age can also park for free all day with a carpool parking permit. Carpool permit areas are enforced Monday- Friday from 8am to 4pm. Permits are available at the airport parking kiosk only.
Hybrids with current sticker park in designated areas only. Details and stickers can be obtained at the City of Aspen Parking Office (540 E. Main Street).
