Aspen Snowmass does the holidays right, with a stacked calendar of events, special activities for the whole family, and so many things to do you'll forget all about gifts (well, maybe!). From the new Breathtaker Alpine Coaster to the legendary New Year's Eve parties across Aspen, the entire area will be putting on a two-week celebration through January 2.
We've curated our favorite on-mountain and off-mountain ways to celebrate the season during your holiday getaway.
SNOWMASS BASE VILLAGE GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION
Saturday, December 15, 2018On December 15th, join us to celebrate the opening of the Snowmass Base Village (SBV) at the base of Snowmass Ski Area. This $600 million mountain-resort development (currently the largest under construction in North America) adds lodging, residences, restaurants, retail and more amenities to the Snowmass experience. To celebrate we will have a live band, food and drinks, and tons of giveaways.
The centerpiece of the development is the new Limelight Hotel Snowmass, which will feature 99 hotel rooms and 11 for-sale condominiums, plus a new restaurant, a children’s game area as well as a five-story climbing wall that will be open to the public. The Limelight Snowmass is currently taking reservations beginning December 22, 2018.
Ullr Nights | ELK CAMP AT SNOWMASS
December 27 and 28 | January 4During Ullr Nights, Elk Camp at Snowmass is transformed into a nighttime winter wonderland for the whole family. And for the holidays, we are adding bonus nights: December 28 and January 2!
Take an evening gondola ride up to Elk Camp for family fun including tubing, the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, snowbiking, snowshoe tours, live music, an ice bar, a bonfire, s'mores, and delicious food.

PHOTOS WITH SANTA
December 5, 2018; 3–5pmEveryone is invited to the Limelight Hotel Aspen on December 5th for a special visit with Santa. A small gift will be given to each of the little ones. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served compliments of the Limelight Hotel. Donations of gently used or new hats, gloves, sweaters and coats for the Salvation Army are encouraged.

Bayer & Bauhaus Exhibit Grand Opening
December 20, 2018; 4pm–6pmThe City of Aspen loves art and design, and as a company, Aspen Snowmass embraces this culture whole-heartedly as well with our Art in Unexpected Places program. We are excited about this exhibition opening at the Wheeler/Stallard Museum called “bayer & bauhaus: how design shaped aspen.” Concurrently, Aspen Snowmass will be installing a Herbert Bayer tapestry at Elk Camp to honor the exhibit and the design movement that helped shape Aspen into the community it is today.

AVSC’s Audi AJAX Cup | Little Nell Race Course & Shlomo’s Party Tent
December 30; 9am–6pmThe Audi Ajax Cup is a dual Giant Slalom right on the Little Nell run down Aspen Mountain, ending in Aspen’s Gondola Plaza. Teams of six are racing head-to-head until one is named the winner and awarded the famed Gorsuch Cup. Each team has a pro-racer, last year’s included Chris Davenport, Casey Puckett, Daron Rahlves and AJ Kitt. Race is free to watch as a spectator sport, and the party has an entry fee.
Skiing and Riding | All Four Mountains
DailyAspen Mountain and Snowmass will open November 22, followed by Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk opening on December 8. Check the snow and grooming reports for frequent updates on conditions, grooming, and lift status.
Snowcat Dinners at Lynn Britt Cabin and Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro

Buttermilk Cliffhouse Full Moon Uphill Dinners
December 22 | January 20 | February 19 | March 20A favorite of both locals and visitors alike, skin or hike up Tiehack on Buttermilk under the light of a full moon to dinner at Cliffhouse! Get there early to enjoy free hot chocolate from 5-6 pm around the Cowboy Cauldron over a roaring fire. À la carte dinner options, snacks and a cash bar will be offered inside Cliffhouse. Cliffhouse will be open 5-8pm on these nights.
Breathtaker Alpine Coaster | Elk Camp at Snowmass
Daily from November 22, 2018 through April 21, 2019Our newest activity on Snowmass will take your breath away. Literally. The new Breathtaker Alpine Coaster opened last year and takes guests on a 28mph journey through the forest near Elk Camp. Special night rides are available on December 21 (during Ullr Nights).
Tubing | Elk Camp at Snowmass
Daily beginning December 27, 2018 through April 5, 2019Double-up on the fun by using your Activity Pass for both the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster and a few runs on our tubing lanes at Elk Camp. Few things could feel more jolly than dashing through the snow on a one-person open tube.
SNOWBIKING | ELK CAMP SNOWMASS
Throughout winterExperience the rush of sliding down the slopes in a whole new way with a snowbike lesson at Snowmass. Learn to ride a snow bike with help from an instructor, and take some laughter-filled laps under the Elk Camp Gondola. This growing sport is great for people of all ages. Come learn with us.

Torchlight Parade & Fireworks | Snowmass
December 31, 2018; 6pm (Torchlight Parade), 10pm (Fireworks)Join the spectacle at Snowmass by skiing and riding in the torchlight parade. Loading for the parade will begin at 5:30pm and you can sign up in advance (or the day-of) at the Snowmass Ticket Pavilions. Skiers and snowboarders ages 8 and up are invited to ski in the parade. Fireworks follow at 10pm.

The New Year’s Dom Perignon Party | The Little Nell
December 31, 2018 – January 1, 2019; 10pm–1:30amRing in 2019 in #NellStyle at The Dom Pérignon Party, Aspen’s “it party” of the holiday season. This signature celebration takes place throughout The Little Nell with unique musical acts in three of the hotel’s premier venues. Access includes bottomless Dom Pérignon, a top-shelf open bar and decadent food stations replenished throughout the night. The Manhattan Party Band will perform in the Belvedere Lounge, DJ Cyn will be spinning in the Dom Pérignon Lounge and The Flatirons Jazz Band takes over the Hennessy Lounge. Among the captivating surprises - Brazilian funk and freestyle dancers, drawing the crowd to the dance floor. The party goes from 10 pm–1:30 am with a fireworks display over Aspen Mountain at midnight. Pricing is $595++/person.
