Our Values in Action
A belief born nearly 80 years ago continues to shape how we move, how we show up, and how we work for a better future.
Some years ask more of us. 2025 was one of them.
For nearly 80 years, Aspen has been shaped by a simple but powerful belief: when people come together in a place that renews mind, body, and spirit, they discover the inspiration to build a better world.
After World War II, this place was re-imagined as more than a ski destination. It became a community grounded in ideas, beauty, movement, and renewal — a place where fresh air and fresh thinking lived side by side. That vision became known as the Aspen Idea, and it has guided our company and our valley ever since.
Today, as the world faces uncertainty — climate change, what seems like intractable political division, widening inequities — that founding vision feels not just relevant, but necessary.
Aspen One was built for moments like this.
Our history teaches us that when we act with conviction, when we stand together, when we refuse to look away, we can inspire something better. Our mountains remind us that while storms do pass, finding a way through them requires strength and resolve. Our community reminds us that courage is contagious. And our values remind us that beauty, purpose, and justice still matter.
For decades, we’ve been working on the very issues at the heart of this moment. We’ve invested in bold climate action — from advancing electrification and renewable energy with Holy Cross Energy, to engaging our guests in the fight for strong climate policy at the local, state, and national levels. We’ve championed civic participation by encouraging voter engagement of our employees and have used our platform to elevate the importance of showing up — whether volunteering for a good cause or protesting a bad one. And we have worked to expand opportunities all through affordable housing investments, community partnerships, on-mountain access programs, and initiatives that help the outdoors better reflect the diversity of the country.
We know we can’t do it alone; we have to work towards addressing the root causes of issues. Below are organizations that are doing just that, and we encourage you to learn more, get involved, and support their work
