We were honored to host Bill Mckibben during the Aspen U Speaker Series on January 25, 2020. Bill McKibben broke the climate story with his book The End of Nature, in 1989, and has gone on to write two dozen more books while publishing in journals ranging from the New Yorker to Rolling Stone. With Middlebury students, he created the group 350.org. It is hard to overstate McKibben’s importance in the climate movement, but it’s also hard to overstate his humanity, which comes in the form of a wide-eyed fascination with the world and the people in it. So with his trip to Aspen we got to drink beer with this guy, listen and converse, and perhaps then to go forward to solve this big climate problem together.
