Long Love Public Lands

We have a deep history with our public lands, and they need the public now more than ever.

Our Shared History: Aspen Skiing Company and the White River National Forest

Since Aspen Mountain’s opening in 1946, Aspen Skiing Company has operated in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service through a special use permit. This public-private relationship is the foundation of our business: we offer world-class outdoor experiences on land that belongs to all Americans.

We exist because of the White River National Forest—a vast, rugged landscape of alpine peaks, pristine watersheds, and high-country wilderness. Spanning 2.3 million acres, it’s one of the most visited national forests in the United States and home to all four Aspen Snowmass mountains.

Over the decades, Aspen Skiing Company has worked closely with the Forest Service to ensure responsible land use including trail construction, avalanche control, wildfire mitigation, watershed protection, and habitat restoration.

As climate impacts intensify and some policymakers push to expand drilling, reduce environmental protections, and even offer our public lands for sale, our public lands are at risk.

These iconic and treasured places need advocates like you—now more than ever.

These lands are part of our identity. We are committed to their care—and we hope you’ll join us in taking action to ensure their future.
