A Guide To Closing Day Celebrations At Aspen Snowmass
There are a lot of reasons to celebrate the ski season that was. Learn more about closing day celebrations at all four of our mountains.
Grom or granny, local or visitor, we’d like to thank you for skiing with us this season!
Snow has been falling consistently in recent weeks and with the four mountains of Aspen Snowmass firing on all cylinders, the end of the ski season feels far away. But we’re surely guaranteed sun and slush bumps in the coming weeks, marking the return of spring skiing. Spring also means the always-coveted closing-day celebrations that help wrap the season up with a bang are just around the corner. Here’s where to celebrate before the snow disappears.
Buttermilk – March 31
Affectionately known as Bacon Appreciation Day, Buttermilk’s closing party takes place on Sunday, March 31 at 10:30am. Come grab bacon doughnuts in the plaza before skiing around the rest of the mountain in search of “bacon samplers.” Stop by Buttermilk Mountain Lodge—including its brand-new après spot, The Backyard—and the Cliffhouse for even more bacon specials, DJ sets, and libations. Beats and bacon at Buttermilk make for a memorable, family-friendly Sunday!

From first chair until the last call, the locals bring the party for this one. Mismatched costumes, snow blades, and thrifted sunglasses are a must across the entire mountain on Highlands’ closing day. Cloud Nine is sure to be popping, Merry-Go-Round will have specials and a DJ, and the Highlands Alehouse at the base of the mountain is the spot to be after you take your last Bowl lap of the year.

Snowmass has plenty of terrain above 10,000 feet, so the snow here lasts later into the season. If you like spring corn skiing and riding, this is your spot once the lower zones start to melt out. For a full end-of-season bash, check out the always-entertaining Elk Camp Surf & Snow Beach Party going down on the Saturday of Snowmass' closing weekend. From 11am until 3pm, you can see brave skiers and riders tempt a 40-degree bath in their ski gear. After you’ve watched the pond skimmers sink or swim, swing by the Elk Camp patio where the party will continue with DJ Naka G, hot tubs and food and beverage specials all afternoon.

Props to you for squeezing all you can out of this season. You could recycle that Highlands closing day costume, but extra points for a second ridiculous outfit. Top-to-bottom slush turns will most certainly be in order on Ajax on Sunday, April 21—and be ready to dance at the Sundeck.
It’s officially Aspen Snowmass’ last day, might as well go for it.

Thanks again for making this season one for the books. Enjoy all summer has to offer, and we’ll catch you next year. Pray for snow!
