Kids riding the gondola at Aspen/Snowmass

Family Friendly Activities

Aspen/Snowmass will probably raise the bar for all of your subsequent summer vacations.

Sorry about that. But the truth is, with so many different family-oriented activities on both Snowmass Mountain and Aspen Mountain, the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley and Elk Mountains as our backyard, and the towns of Aspen and Snowmass Village to explore, everyone in your family will find something to create an epic summer vacation.

15 Reasons Families Love Aspen/Snowmass in Summer

  1. Mountain Biking on Snowmass – Explore more than 50 miles of trails, from lean-and-mean to easy-going.
  2. Hiking Through Fields of Wildflowers – Take one of two gondolas up the mountains and explore alpine nature firsthand. Views of the rugged Elk Mountains are virtually guaranteed.
  3. Conquer a Climbing Wall, or Bounce on the Eurobungy – Over at Snowmass, our climbing wall is a great introduction to rock-climbing, while the Eurobungy is a great introduction to giggle fits.
  4. Riding the Elk Camp and Silver Queen Gondolas
  5. Firing Away at Paintball – Check out our Paintball Course on Snowmass Mountain — it’s a little like “tag, you’re it!” but a whole lot messier and wild. (ages 10 and older).
  6. Shred the Mountain on a Mountainboard – Think of it as fat-tire skateboarding. Kids of all ages — but especially teens looking for something different — love shredding it on our fleet of mountainboards. Lessons available.
  7. Play a Round of Disc Golf – Take your pick from three 18-hole disc golf courses on Snowmass Mountain and Aspen Mountain. Proper attire — i.e. T-shirt, shorts, whatever feels good — is suggested.
  8. Pan for Silver Nuggets – Did you know that the largest silver nugget ever mined — aptly named The Motherlode — was from Aspen Mountain? Kids of all ages are welcome to search for silver nuggets in a specially designed sandbox at the base, and they can even take smaller nuggets as a souvenir.
  9. Laugh at Dad on the Obstacle Course – Snowmass Mountain’s free obstacle course is open for the whole family, and includes enough challenges — natural and manmade — to thrill even the hardest-to-impress teenager. The course includes rope swings, cargo netting, balance beams and more, and is open from mid-June to Labor Day.
