Watch your child’s confidence grow as they join our Grizzlies Program for young skiers and snowboarders ages 5 and 6. We have a class for all ability levels.

Why Should Your Child Take a Grizzlies Lesson?

  • Focused on the fundamentals of on-mountain safety and proper techniques for all levels, Aspen/Snowmass’ Grizzlies Program allows children ages 5 and 6 to thrive.
  • Designed for first-timers as well as kids who have been shredding it up their entire short lives. We’ll place them in a class with peers of the same ability. It’s a great environment to meet new friends, and enjoy skiing and riding more.
  • Our Pros are both young-at-heart and specially trained for teaching young children. They love working with kids!
  • Special emphasis placed on knowing the Skier Responsibility Code.
  • Special events include the Winter Wild Things Native Animal Exploration and race days.


Skiing and snowboarding at Snowmass and Buttermilk.  Skiing only at Aspen Highlands.

Geared for:

Children ages 5 and 6, of all levels of ability at Snowmass and Buttermilk.  Intermediate to Expert, Skiers only at Aspen Highlands.


  • Full-day lessons (skiing and snowboarding): From 9:30am–3pm.
  • Plan to arrive at your lesson meeting area at least 15 minutes before lesson start time and on your first day, please plan for time to fill out required paperwork. 



  • Ability Level: All abilities, Ski & Snowboard
  • Meeting Place: Base Village Plaza just outside of the Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center.

Aspen Highlands

  • Ability Level: Intermediate skiers only
  • Meeting Place: Base of Exhibition lift.


  • Ability Level: All abilities, Ski & Snowboard.
  • Meeting Place: Base area, outside the Hideout.

What to Bring

  • Please label all items. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Make sure your child stays hydrated before the lesson so they can handle the elevation and exercise.
  • Leave the cotton clothing at home. Dress them in moisture-wicking layers, even in the cold.
  • Clothes should include: waterproof coat, snow pants, boots, hat, and mittens, goggles or sunglasses.
  • Bring sunscreen and lip protection

Parent Information & Special Considerations

  • Our goal is for your child to have a wonderful experience. If your child has a difficult time adjusting, we will contact you so that together we can decide what is best for your child.
  • Helmets are required for children ages 17 and under participating in Ski & Snowboard Schools programs.
  • If possible, get your lift tickets and rentals the day before. It is recommended to allow for 1 hour to properly fit your child with rental equipment.
  • Transportation: Free transportation is available on Max the Moose Express, a shuttle from Aspen to Buttermilk reserved for kids! Max the Moose leaves from the gondola building in Aspen at 8:45am and returns before 4pm. Children riding Max the Moose Express must be at least 5 years old.
  • Health: Your child’s health is important to us. Please notify us of any health problems or medication requirements. We reserve the right to refuse any child due to illness to ensure the health of the other children.
  • Medication: If medication is to be administered, parents must sign a medical release instructing us how and when the medication is got be given to the child. All medication must be in the original container with the written instructions from the physician clearly marked. We are not allowed to dispense over the counter medicine without a written physician order.
