You’re never too old to learn to ski or ride. From selecting the right rental gear to making your way down the mountain with confidence, our Adult Beginner’s Magic lessons will help you get started with skiing or snowboarding. Give us three days and you’ll be hooked for life.

Why Take an Adult Beginner’s Magic™ Lesson?

  • Because no matter your age, experience or skill level, we can help you learn to love skiing and snowboarding with a specialized approach designed just for beginners.
  • Included in the price of each lesson is a lift ticket for the dedicated beginner areas of the mountain, where you can learn at your own pace.
  • Also included in the price of each lesson is your Beginner’s Magic rental equipment — customized to meet the needs of beginner’s and allow for supreme comfort as you get started.
  • Our accelerated learning method — taught by some of our top Pros — will help you quickly build confidence on the slopes.
  • Full-day lesson runs from 10am–3pm. If at all possible, get your lift tickets and rentals the day before your scheduled lesson.
  • In this lesson, our Pros will teach you: the basics of skiing or snowboarding, peak performance, the right equipment and how to use it, and mountain awareness.
  • Note: Advanced beginner to expert skiers and snowboarders should take Adult Group Lessons at Buttermilk or Snowmass.   Performance Coaching is a great choice for intermediate to expert skiers at Aspen Mountain or Highlands.

Where

Snowmass

  • Meeting Places (skiers): Elk Camp Meadows (9:45am). Plan on loading the Elk Camp Gondola at 9am on your first day. At the top, you will arrive at our Four Mountain Sports Beginner Magic rental shop where you will be fitted with your Beginner Magic equipment. By 9:45am, you will meet your Pro and start your lesson at 10am at our nearby beginner’s area called Elk Camp Meadows. If you arrive a day early, pick up your rental gear the afternoon before your first lesson at our Four Mountain Sports shop at the bottom of the Elk Camp Gondola. The morning of your lesson, you should plan on loading the Elk Camp Gondola no later than 9:30am and meet your Pro by 9:45am.
  • Meeting Places (snowboarders): Snowmass Base Village Plaza (9:45am). Plan on arriving at Four Mountain Sports at the base of the Elk Camp Gondola by 9am on your first day to be fitted with your Beginner Magic equipment. By 9:45am, you will meet your Pro outside the rental shop and start your lesson at 10am at our nearby beginner’s area called Elk Camp Meadows. If you arrive a day early, pick up your rental gear the afternoon before your first lesson at our Four Mountain Sports shop at the bottom of the Elk Camp Gondola. The morning of your lesson, you should plan on meeting your Pro at 9:45am in the Snowmass Base Village Plaza.
  • After your first day of Beginner Magic lessons, plan to arriving at your lesson meeting area ready to go at 9:45am.

Buttermilk

  • Meeting Place: Plan on arriving by 9am at Four Mountain Sports conveniently located adjacent to the parking lot at the base of Buttermilk. You will be fitted with your Beginner Magic rental equipment. You will then meet your Pro at the base of the Summit Express chairlift at 9:45am. Your lesson will begin at 10am. If you arrive a day early, pick up your rental gear the afternoon before your first lesson at Buttermilk Four Mountain Sports. The morning of your lesson you should plan on arriving at the meeting area at the base of the Summit Express Lift by 9:45am to meet your Pro and be ready to start your lesson at 10am.
  • After your first day of Beginner Magic lessons, plan to arriving at your lesson meeting area ready to go at 9:45am.

What to Bring

  • Make sure you are hydrated before the lesson so that you can handle the elevation and exercise.
  • Leave the cotton clothing at home. Dress in moisture wicking layers, even in the cold.
  • Bring sunscreen and lip protection.
  • Don't forget money for lunch.

Policies & Special Considerations

  • Helmets – Helmets are required for children ages 17 and under participating in all Ski & Snowboard Schools programs. Helmets are also required for all participants, regardless of age, when participating in Terrain Park & Pipe lessons. While helmets may reduce the severity of a head injury, the best way to avoid accidents is to know and abide by the skier/rider responsibility code.
