Start Details:
  Snowmass Base Village at 8:00am (solo racers) and 8:10am (team racers)

Finish Details: The race will finish at the base of Aspen Mountain in front of the deck at Ajax Tavern.

Registration: Registration available here.  You can register in person on Friday August 2 at the Aspen Mountain ticket office between 4 - 7 pm. There will not be day of registration.

Mandatory* Racer Check-in:  All racers must check-in on Friday August 2. Check-in will be located in the Aspen Mountain ticket office and open from 4-7 pm. All team members need to check-in though you do not have to check-in with your teammate. Each racer will need to sign a waiver and pick up a racer bib. We will also have a gift bag for each racer. *  If you are coming in from out of town and are unable to check-in the night before you MUST email Dusty Diaz (ddiaz@aspensnowmass.com) to arrange morning-of check-in.

Parking/ Transportation:  Parking is available for free in the Snowmass Parking Garage (make sure to take your bike off the roof rack before pulling in) there is also free parking available at the Tiehack parking lot. There is parking in Aspen for a fee.

Racer Bags:  Each racer will be allowed to deposit one dry bag at the start that will be shuttled to the finish line or a relay spot for pick-up. (Note: in an effort to reduce waste we will not provide a dry bag, please bring your own).

Relay Teams: 

  • Relay Station 1 (Teams of 4) – Start of Government Trail (parking is available on top of Wood Run Road, other options is to load the gondola at 9:50am) 
  • Relay Station 2 (Teams of 2 & 4) – Tiehack Parking lot (parking is available for free at the Tiehack parking lot) 
  • Relay Station 3 (Teams of 4) – Congo Trail Parking lot off of Castle Creek Road; across from Midnight Mine Road (Parking is not available please park in the Tiehack Parking lot or in Aspen)

Course Marking:  The course will be marked with red/white striped tape and directional signage with the event logo.

Aid Stations:  Each Aid Station will have water, Red Bull, Clif Bars, Clif Shot Gel, Cytomax Energy Drops, Cytomax Sport Performance Drink, Muscle Milk, Muscle Milk Protein Bar, Coke, candy and other snacks to keep you fueled. Aid stations will be place at the following locations:

  • Top of Aspen Mountain (5.23 Miles from start)
  • Intersection of Midnight Mine and Castle Creek Road (10.32 Miles from start)
  • Tiehack Parking Lot (15.55 Miles from start)
  • Elk Camp Restaurant (23.05 Miles from start)

There will be other locations along the course with limited resources available (water). You should plan to be able to make it from aid station to station without additional support.

Cut-Off Times:  To ensure racer safety we will have two cut-off times and locations. The first cut-off will be at Noon at Tiehack parking lot.  The second will be at 1:30pm at the top of the Congo Trail.

Rules:

  • Stay on the designated trails; no short-cutting switchbacks. Those attempting to take short-cuts will be disqualified and publicly shamed.
  • Headphones are permitted, but please be respectful when entering aid stations and crossing other trails/roads. Be aware that the trails are open to the public and, in spots, cross other trails that may include cyclist, runners, hikers, etc. Please rock-out responsibly.
  • NO LITTERING! This includes tossing your used water bottles. We have trash cans and recycle bins at each aid station, you may leave used water bottles there.  Just because it's a race doesn't mean you get to forget your manners and dirty our back yard.
  • There is a cut-off at noon at the Tiehack Aid Station and another at 1:30pm at the top of the Congo Trail.
  • If you choose to drop out please alert the nearest aid station personnel. We do not want to worry your emergency contact person!
  • If you must relieve yourself, please use a bathroom (available at the top of Aspen Mtn, Tiehack, Elk Camp Restaurant) or discretion...

Normal Mountain Operations:  We ask each racer to keep in mind that Snowmass and Aspen Mountain will be open to guests as usual starting at 10am.  Also Government Trail is open to the general public on race day so please be respectful of the general public on the trails.

Racer Safety:  For the safety of every racer, each athlete is required to notify the closest course marshal of any injury or racer who appears to have ventured off-course ASAP. We will have plenty of medical staff available to assist along the course.

Racer Family Lift Tickets:  We will be offering 50% off vouchers for family members of racers who wish to watch/cheer from the top of Aspen Mountain. Vouchers will be available at registration.

After Party & Award Ceremony brought to you by Ajax Tavern:  After finishing the race we’d like to invite all racers to cheer on the other racers from 1pm to 6:30pm on the Ajax Tavern deck for Free Budweiser and Bud Light, a choice of a Ajax Double, Double Burger or Tavern Salad.  Awards will be at 3:30pm. Friends and family are invited but beer and food will only be provided to racers.

*  Must be 21+ to consume alcohol, other beverages will be available for purchase.
