Snowmass has undergone millions of dollars in improvements including the highly talked about Base Village, home to the incredible Little Nell residences, the award-winning Treehouse Kid’s Adventure Center and a handful of delicious restaurants and trendy boutiques. 1. 12 Foot Halfpipe at Low Down- Every aspiring terrain park athlete has to begin somewhere! Catering to all levels, Snowmass has a variety of terrain parks to suit anyone’s skill level. New this year is the 12 foot beginner’s halfpipe located in Low Down terrain park. 2. The Ullrhof- Replenish those depleted calories at the newly remodeled Ullrhof Restaurant, located at the base of the Big Burn chairlift. This long-time restaurant doesn’t stop with the new interior, it boasts a hearty new menu from burgers and fries, to to-die-for milkshakes. 3. The Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center- A one-stop-shop for trendy kid’s outerwear, lift ticket purchase, rental and Ski & Snowboard School check-in. This award-winning center also boasts children’s entertainment from a family-friendly climbing gym, to teen activities, to a host of themed rooms like Eagle Peak, a multi-purpose room for all ages or the Bear Den for the younger crowd with a puppet-show theatre and napping loft 4. Sam’s Smokehouse – Modern in design, ‘homey’ in food, Sam’s boasts some of most spectacular views and comfort food around. With nearly 360 degree views of Garret’s Peak and Mount Daly, Sam’s serves up a barbecue-style smokehouse menu. It’s location atop Sam’s Knob and the end of the Village Express six-person chairlift, makes it an easy place to grab lunch and meet back up with the whole family. Sam’s also has a lounge area for those who want a quick coffee, breakfast or lunch.
5. Elk Camp Meadows- The incredible Elk Camp Gondola will whisk you away to this new area designated for beginners and even intermediates. With a sheltered magic carpet, as well as a lift solely for beginning skiers and snowboarders, and complete with a warming lounge, this area new learners of any age. 6. Snowmass Terrain Park(s) - Yes, there’s more than one. Rated as one of the top terrain parks by famed skiing and snowboarding magazines, the main park is home to high-level competitions and has hosted many national ski and snowboard movies. Don’t feel like your skills are quite up to par? There are intermediate variations of many of the features in the main terrain park, as well as Little Makaha, and Low Down, beginner/intermediate parks full of similar features, but cut down to suitable size for beginners and those seeking to master a new trick. 7. Sneaky’s Tavern – Located adjacent to The Treehouse at Snowmass’s Base Village, and only a few steps from the Elk Camp Gondola and Village Express, Sneaky’s has proven to be a favorite amongst locals and visitors since it’s opening in early 2009. With a cozy indoor atmosphere, afternoon sunshine out on the patio and fabulous American bistro-style food, Sneaky’s is a perfect stop for lunch, après or dinner. 8. Campground on Snowmass – Looking for solitude, beautiful views and the occasional wandering sled dog? Then head over to Campground- an area featuring long double black runs with variable terrain, breathtaking vistas of Mount Daly, Garrett’s Peak and the valley floor below. 9. The Cirque on Snowmass – From the 12,510 foot summit of Snowmass, the Cirque drops precipitously through cliffs, rockbands and steep headwalls. Try AMF or Gowdy’s or make your way across to the Cirque Headwall and pick a line between the rocks for life-changing turns. 10. Snowmass Base Village – This $2 billon, 80-acre development is well underway with delicious eateries, trendy boutiques, a kid’s adventure center, over ninety luxury condominiums and the 15,000-square-foot Snowmass Conference Center.
