TOP TEN ON-MOUNTAIN TASTES AND TREATS  

Aspen/Snowmass, Colo…The fine food and drink found in the towns of Aspen and Snowmass can also be found on-mountain – so good it may lure you in off the slopes.

1.  Sam’s Smokehouse, Snowmass- Located at the top of the Village Express and Sam’s Knob chairlifts, Sam’s Smokehouse on Snowmass offers authentic, home-style BBQ. The 7,900 square foot restaurant has plenty of room to accommodate anyone looking to replenish calories. With close to 360 degree views and a coffee and bar area, Sam’s is also a great place for a quick snack in between runs

2.  Sneaky's Tavern - Located adjacent to The Treehouse at Snowmass’s Base Village, and only a few steps from the Elk Camp Gondola and Village Express, Sneaky’s has proven to be a favorite amongst locals and visitors since it’s opening in early 2009. With a cozy indoor atmosphere, afternoon sunshine out on the patio and fabulous American bistro-style food, Sneaky’s is a perfect stop for lunch, après or dinner

3.  Fries and Mojitos at The Ajax Tavern, Aspen Mountain – Nothing better than sitting outside at the base of Aspen Mountain and enjoying a monstrous bowl of world class truffle fries and sipping on a freshly made mint mojito. There’s nothing better than indulging on gourmet food and drinks while having a view of the graceful, and not so graceful, afternoon skiers coming down Little Nell.

4.  Raclette at Cloud Nine, Aspen Highlands - This mid-mountain bistro offers guests a fine dining experience like no other. Situated beneath the summit of the Cloud Nine high-speed quad, this alpine ski hut boasts incredible 360 degree scenic views, accompanied by the very best European cuisine created by Chef Andreas Fischbacher. Order the Raclette in advance and enjoy a true Austrian experience as you cook your own meats and cheeses on a mini-grill on your table.

5.  Up 4 Pizza, Snowmass - Serving a variety of toppings, this authentic pizzeria dishes out delicious New York style pizza enabling mountain guests to grab a bite to eat on there way up or down the Big Burn on Snowmass Mountain. While you are there, put a pin on the map of the world and let guests know where you are from.

6.  Pasta at Bumps, Buttermilk – Located below the famous X Games halfpipe, Bumps offers a wide variety of healthy, innovative dishes, as well as some American favorites. With a cooking staff on hand, Bumps brings a whole new meaning to ‘lunch line’ with fresh ingredients, flavors and aromas, there are a variety of innovative dishes catering to the meat & cheese lovers, health conscious, and even vegan diner. Chef Henrietta Oliver is known for her incredible pasta specialties for those extra carbs you need to tear up the slopes.

7.  Mongolian BBQ at the Cliffhouse, Buttermilk – Situated on top of Buttermilk Mountain, the Cliffhouse offers skiers and riders a warm place to take a break, as well as inspiring views of surrounding Aspen Mountain, Highlands Mountain, Pyramid Peak and the Maroon Bells. Inside, you can find the popular "make your own" Mongolian-style grill which offers a huge variety of vegetables, beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, tofu and delicious sauces, cooked right before your very eyes.

8.  Pad Thai at the Sundeck, Aspen Mountain - Thai food atop a North American mountain?  Yes, and it’s great! The Sundeck restaurant located at 11,200 feet on Aspen Mountain offers not only a variety of Thai dishes but also American favorites from Caesar salad to burgers to pie! A few feet from the top of the gondola, The Sundeck welcomes skiers, riders and foot passengers for food with amazing views.

9.  Strudel at Bonnie’s, Aspen Mountain- Located mid-mountain, this fabulous restaurant offers an expansive, two tiered deck where you can bask in the surrounding scenery, watch skiers from all angles, and enjoy some of the best treats, like Bonnie’s famous Apple Strudel.

10.  Chicken George at Gwyn's, Snowmass - Swiss cheese, bacon and chicken- who wouldn’t love such a combination? Round off this decadent meal with one of Gwyn’s famous chocolate-peanut butter bar- yum!
