Parks & Pipes

TERRAIN PARKS - FACTS & STATS

Year after year, Aspen/Snowmass continues to push the limit with parks and pipes.  You'll find everything from beginner parks where you can learn the basics, to extreme halfpipe action in Buttermilk and Snowmass.

BUTTERMILK and SNOWMASS – Beginner/Intermediate Terrain

Both Buttermilk and Snowmass have individual beginner/intermediate level parks located away from the traffic of the showcase parks.  These areas are perfect for starting out on freestyle terrain or for warming up to the larger features in the advanced and expert parks.

Makaha Park on Snowmass is easily accessed by the Elk Camp Gondola and unloading at the mid-station.  Snowmass has its own "learn to jib" beginner park located on Scooper.

S3 Park on Buttermilk is accessed by using the West Buttermilk Express lift and unloading at the mid-station. Buttermilk has a beginner half pipe located on Panda Peak and is 200 feet long.

SNOWMASS- Advanced/Expert Terrain- NEW THIS YEAR!

The Snowmass Park and the Superpipe have been relocated to Upper Banzai continuing down Cabin and back to the Coney Glade lift.  A new bridge has been installed at Lunch-line crossing so that park traffic can travel over the green road for a non-stop continuous park lap while the beginner traffic continues through the bridge and under the park users.

The new Superpipe has been constructed out of dirt above the Spider Sabich Picnic Palace on Cabin run and has built to accommodate both our 18 foot Zaugg cutter and the new 22 foot Zaugg. A new fleet of rails and boxes will accompany the new park location to complete the move.

BUTTERMILK - Advanced/Expert Terrain

Buttermilk Park first opened in the 2001/2002 season and has been improved once again for 2007/2008.  The lower section of the Buttermilk Park has been home to the ESPN Winter X Games since 2002 and includes a Superpipe, several stair case features and advanced/expert jump lines.  This year, the features from the ESPN Winter X Games 12 will remain intact in Buttermilk Terrain Park for the duration of the season.

The park begins off the Summit Express lift on Teaser and continues for two miles all the way down the mountain.  The Buttermilk Park has over 40 features boxes, rails, log/wood features, urban jibs and jumps and a 550 foot long Superpipe.

Watch for an all new selection of advanced and expert jibs to be put out on snow this winter.

GROOMING

Buttermilk: 18 foot Zaugg Pipe Monster on a BR 275 winch cuts the Superpipe 5 to 7 days each week.  One NEW BOMBARDIER BISON snow cat will be running two shifts, seven nights a week for top to bottom grooming in the parks.

Snowmass: 18 foot Zaugg Pipe Monster on a NEW Sherpa winch cat will be cutting the pipe 5 to 7 nights a week.  Two Bombardier BR 350 Terrain Master snow cats will be running two shifts, seven nights a week for top to bottom grooming in each park.
