2004-2005 ASPEN/SNOWMASS CALENDAR OF EVENTS


Aspen/Snowmass Village, CO…Wall rides and rail slides, fusion pipes and freerides. As the sport has evolved, so have the events at Aspen/Snowmass. Long a haven for alpine racing, and the defacto home to the ESPN Winter X Games, Aspen/Snowmass also hosts a myriad of other events that mirror the cutting edge of the sport.   • Women's World Cup Slalom/Giant Slalom - Aspen Mountain, November 26-28 World Cup racing kicks-off at Aspen/Snowmass with the women's GS. Watch the finest female skiers in the world race down Aspen Mountain. Fri., Nov. 26 - Women's GS (Thanksgiving), Sat., Nov. 27 - Women's SL, Sun., Nov. 28 - Women's SL
  • Storm the Stars Uphill -Aspen Mountain, December 18 One of the new events to hit Aspen/Snowmass, the Storm the Stars Uphill is a charitable event that sends participants charging up 3,000 vertical feet from the town of Aspen to the top of Aspen Mountain where they are treated to a party at the Sundeck.
  • The 55th Wintersköl Celebration - Four Mountains, January 13-16 Aspen celebrates Wintersköl, a spirited tribute to winter. For four days, more than 20,000 locals and visitors from around the world join in the celebration. Wintersköl features events in downtown Aspen and the four area mountains.

  • ESPN Winter X Games IX - Buttermilk, January 29 - February 1 - LIVE TV For a record fourth year in a row, more than 250 ski, snowboard, Moto X and snowmobile athletes from across the globe will flock to Aspen/Snowmass to compete in ESPN's Winter X Games IX. In January 2004, Aspen Skiing Company and ESPN reached a landmark agreement keeping the Winter X Games, the world's signature action sports event, in Aspen/Snowmass through Winter X Games XI in 2007.

  • AWOL in Aspen - Downtown Aspen, January 30 Witness a brand new event as athletes ski/ride a 30 foot wall feature under the lights in downtown Aspen while a core band belts out the tunes on a stage above it all.

  • U.S. Comedy Arts Festival - Aspen, February 9-13 Since its inception in 1995, the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival has become known as a primary launching pad for comedic talent and for hosting one-of-a-kind events. Comedians and actors known world-wide descend on Aspen/Snowmass for five days of laughter. http://www.uscaf.com/

  • Colorado Freeride Series - Snowmass, February 12, 19 & March 11-12 An extreme competition where amateur athletes huck off the most challenging and Cliff littered terrain at Snowmass.

  • Bud Light Spring Jam -Aspen & Snowmass, March 17-20 Quickly becoming an Aspen/Snowmass signature event, the excitement kicks-off on St. Patrick's Day with the Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert Series, followed by KickAspen Big Air, the Aspen Rail Revolution, The Core Party and the NEPSA Awards.

  • Bud Light Big Air Fridays - Snowmass, Fridays in February & March Skiers and riders show off their best tricks at a series of eight events throughout the season amidst live bands and fireworks.

  • Budweser Hi-Fi Concert Series- Aspen, Nov. 27, Dec. 18, Jan. 30, Feb. 19, March 17, April 10 These free, outdoor music extravaganzas will draw top acts to the streets of Aspen. Six monthly concerts will coincide with huge events, kicking-off with World Cup on Nov. 27.

  • Après X Concert Series - Downtown Aspen, January 28-29 Huge acts perform live under the lights in Wagner Park after X events.
